Message from the President - 2024 World Steel Production Data and TOSYALI

Dear Stakeholders,

We are collectively experiencing the excitement, pride, and joy of rapidly climbing the global steel rankings as we continue our global growth in a constant and sustainable manner through eco-efficiency-focused investments implemented in Türkiye and across various regions of the world.

According to data from the World Steel Association, with our steel production of 9.12 million tons in 2024, we rose 21 places compared to the previous year, entering the top 50 companies and reaching 46th place in the global rankings. 

With a 54.3% increase in production, we became one of the world’s top 3 fastest-growing steel producers. These achievements also elevated us to the position of Türkiye’s largest and Europe’s third-largest steel producer. It is with great pride that I share this well-deserved success with all of you. None of these global achievements are a coincidence; they are the result of well-planned strategic investments and the determined steps we have taken toward qualified steel production. By focusing on three key priorities—sustainability, efficiency, and scale—this success clearly reflects that we are beginning to reap the rewards of our efforts and continue our steady growth.

Our Tosyalı Demir Çelik İskenderun Plant, which recently commenced production and stands as Türkiye’s largest industrial investment in recent years; our Tosyalı Algérie production complex, the largest integrated iron and steel facility in Africa and the continent’s leading industrial company and exporter outside the hydrocarbon sector in Algeria; and the high-capacity DRI plants currently under construction in Libya—along with all our investments across different regions of the world—are among the world’s leading facilities due to their strong focus on sustainability, efficiency, and scale.

Over the past 5 years, Tosyalı has made investments exceeding USD 6 billion, with the majority focused on sustainability-oriented projects. Our investments in R&D, advanced technologies, circular production, and clean energy sources such as solar and hydrogen continue without interruption. At the same time, we are committed to increasing efficiency, one of the core pillars of sustainability, aiming to produce more while consuming fewer resources. We continue to scale up our operations through newly established plants and facilities added to our ecosystem. Thanks to our fully independent, yet highly dynamic and efficient structure that manages everything within the Tosyalı ecosystem—from raw material to the final product—we are achieving sustainable growth as Europe’s third-largest and Türkiye’s largest steel producer.

All of these achievements have positioned us as a global steel producer growing both rapidly and steadily in the world rankings. Between 2020 and 2024, we are the only steel producer among the top 50 companies that has consistently increased both its production and global ranking year after year without interruption. During the same period, we increased our global crude steel production by 110%, and with the latest figures, we have taken a significant step towards advancing to the super league of steel producers. With nearly 50 facilities across three continents, a liquid steel production capacity of 15 million tons, and approximately 15,000 employees, our goal is to become one of the world’s top 20 steel companies within the next five years.

I truly believe that with the support of all our stakeholders—especially our employees, business partners, and suppliers—we will achieve this goal much sooner.
