TOSYALI ALGERIE ADDS ENERGY TO ALGERIA'S ENERGY

Sonelgaz, the Algerian public organization in charge of distributing electricity and natural gas, has awarded the natural gas pipe tender to Tosyalı Algerie, the Algerian subsidiary of Turkey's largest steel manufacturer.

Since 2013, Tosyalı Algerie, the largest company in the industry and exporter in Algeria outside of the hydrocarbon-based sectors, has been providing the nation with the iron and steel it needs while also sustaining its economic contribution to the country through value-added exports.

Producing products in three main categories, "Bar Rebar," "Wire Rod," and "Spiral Pipe," Tosyalı Algerie is housed in 11 facilities, including an integrated port. It benefits numerous industries, including shipbuilding, the energy sector, the automobile industry, the construction industry, and hydrocarbon transportation. By producing iron and steel domestically, it helps Algeria replace its imports of these materials.

With a keen eye on Algeria's energy sector developments, Tosyalı Algerie recently emerged victorious in the tender for the pipe needed for the line that Sonelgaz—the state organization in charge of distributing gas and electricity—will construct to carry natural gas to the power plant.

Due to its competitive price and early deadline, Tosyalı Algerie, a local producer, was chosen over other bidders in this tender, which is limited to companies based in Algeria. A total of 70 km of 711 x 9.5mm, X70M PSL2 quality gas pipe (standard API 5L PSL2) with 3LPE outside and FCE inside will be delivered to Sonelgaz within three months as a result of the tender. Notably, this project is the first in the natural gas pipe category that Tosyalı Algerie has completed in Algeria.

Sonelgaz was established in 1969 and has been providing daily energy needs to Algeria for the past 50 years. Sonelgaz contributes to the execution of the national energy policy and, with its rich history, expertise, and know-how, plays a significant role in the social and economic development of the nation.

Tosyalı Algerie is Turkey's largest industrial investment abroad, and it's one of the most advanced and energy-efficient integrated production complexes in Egypt and Europe. Across 5 million square meters, the Tosyalı Algerie complex comprises 11 facilities and is widely regarded as the industrial backbone of the nation's economy. Tosyalı Algerie's environmentally friendly and green steel production facility is made possible by its DRI technology. The largest DRI production facilities and DRI-powered arc furnace in the world are found in Tosyalı Algerie, with an annual capacity of 2.5 million tons. In addition to building the infrastructure of the nation's largest port, which can accommodate up to 200,000 DWT ships, Tosyalı Algerie has also begun operating this facility. After completing all investments, Tosyalı Algerie, which is currently in its fourth stage of development, will become an industrial complex with a long and flat product capacity of 8.5 million tons.
