THE TOSYALI DEMİR ÇELİK SARISEKI PLANT WAS VISITED BY THE MINISTER OF INDUSTRY AND TECHNOLOGY

Mehmet Fatih Kacır, the minister of industry and technology, along with the delegation he was traveling with, visited the Tosyalı Demir Çelik Sarıseki Plant, one of Turkey's biggest industrial investments that will stop 4 million tons of flat steel from being imported. As the first steel plant in Turkey to use Quantum Furnace technology, which uses less electrical energy and emits fewer carbon emissions, Tosyalı Demir Çelik Sarıseki Plant is known for its advanced technology investments. Production has begun in the first of two Quantum Furnaces at this plant.

Turkey's leading global steel producer, Tosyalı Holding, with almost 40 facilities and 15,000 employees across three continents, is still expanding, developing, and investing in high value-added facilities to replace imports.

With its investments focused on sustainability, Tosyalı—one of the most renowned and emulated companies globally—has begun the countdown at the Tosyalı Demir Çelik Sarıseki Facility, which will manufacture certified green steel in the İskenderun 2nd Organized Industrial Zone.

The Tosyalı Demir Çelik Sarıseki Plant was inspected by Mehmet Fatih Kacır, the Minister of Industry and Technology; Oruç Baba İnan, the Deputy Minister; Zekeriya Çoştu; Hatay Governor Mustafa Masatlı; Hatay MPs Adem Yeşildal, Abdulkadir Özel, Hüseyin Yayman, Kemal Karahan, Lütfi Kaşıkçı; AK Party Provincial Chairman Mehmet Öntürk; MHP Provincial Chairman Feyzi Altay; Iskenderun District Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek; and Iskenderun Mayor Fatih Tosyalı.

After learning about the Tosyalı Demir Çelik Sarıseki Plant from Fuat Tosyalı, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tosyalı Holding, Minister Kacır evaluated the plant, which employs the most cutting-edge technologies in the world in its field and has a 4 million tons/year production capacity on a 500 thousand square meter area: "The iron and steel sector is one of Turkey's locomotive sectors." In terms of producing iron and steel in Europe and around the world, we are a very assertive nation. We will need to use these contemporary production infrastructures as our primary force multiplier in the upcoming years to further support this claim. These cutting-edge infrastructures will serve as leaders in the realization of the green transformation. I express my gratitude to our investor for bringing this state-of-the-art facility to İskenderun, Hatay, and our nation. I also thank all of our laborers and engineers who realized this facility by showcasing their engineering prowess at the pinnacle of engineering. Together, we'll make the discoveries possible for these facilities to invest more extensively in Turkey's promising future."

Fuat Tosyalı, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tosyalı Holding, stated that the company's primary agenda item is sustainability and that they are concentrating on producing green steel in this vein. "Our 2.5 billion dollar investment, the Tosyalı Demir Çelik Sarıseki Plant, has become a facility where we use the most advanced technologies and will put us ahead in global competition with Industry 4.0 compliance," he said. After one of Turkey's biggest industrial investments, the Tosyalı Demir Çelik Sarıseki Plant was fully operational, Tosyalı became the country's first user of Quantum Furnace technology, which reduces electrical energy consumption. We will have a 70% smaller carbon footprint than blast furnaces and a 20% smaller carbon footprint than conventional arc furnaces in this facility thanks to our investments in sustainability. Through this investment, Turkey will no longer need to import 4 million tons of flat steel, providing a good example of value-added steel production that is essential to the growth and development of our nation."

Tosyalı Holding is continuing its stage 4 investments in Tosyalı Algérie, the largest industrial company in Algeria and an exporter in non-hydrocarbon sectors, in addition to the Tosyalı Demir Çelik Sarıseki Facility. As part of this investment in Algeria, Tosyalı is constructing a new flat steel plant with a 4 million tons/year production capacity in front of a state-of-the-art DRI plant. After all investments in Algeria are finished, Tosyalı Algerie will rank among the most significant and vital iron and steel production hubs in the world, not just in the Mediterranean and Africa. Tosyalı Holding is still investing in Turkey, Algeria, Senegal, and Angola in order to reach its target of 15 million tons of capacity.
